Add a meal in grams, not only in portions
I miss the possibility to add weight of the whole dish. Now I have to add all ingredients' weight and count the proportions I eat. This is troublesome and it should be done automatically like in recipes.
This option is available in recipes, but sometimes I have different proportions, and when I change them, this also affects my meals I added in the past - this does not make sense either, then.

hups MergedNow when creating your own recipe you have to add how many portions the recipe is. This is problematic to some recipes as they are not used by portion, they are used only by weight.

Another problem is that the nutritional values are shown by portions, not by weight (100 grams) which would be better.
I am aware that if I add certain mix to my daily intake I can then change the value into grams. This is not convenient though. If I do that I can then I only see 4 values (kcal, carbs, proteins, fat) and nothing else, no sugars, no brake down of fats etc. This hassle could be changed into more user friendly by allowing users to add recipes without portions (having the portions as an option but not mandatory).
Examples for these are my own mixes of different seeds, grains, protein powder or chia pudding etc. -

Some RandoI have a work-around that may work for some of you:
2
Add the dish as a recipe.
Add the ingredients you used.
If the dish is heavier after cooking:
Add water (0 calories) to increase the weight of the finished dish. The (virtual) water's weight can cover for low-calorie ingredients you don't want to count (spices, etc) or actual water you added during cooking.
If your dish is lighter after cooking than the combined weight of your ingredients before cooking:
You have to take these two numbers and divide the higher number by the lower number to get a quotient. Example: You fry 100 g of something that has 100 calories per 100 g. After frying, it's now 90 g. Divide 100 by 90. You get 1.11. Now, when you eat a piece of the fried dish, you weigh it, multiply the weight by 1.11 and enter that number in Yazio. Let's say you eat a 50 g piece. You'd enter it as 55,5 g.
Obviously you have to know the weight of your pots and pans. I opted to engrave the numbers on the pots themselves. -

CarolineYES ! What would be perfect is :
2
- Create a recipe
- Have a place where you can enter/edit the full weight of it (because Yazio makes an approximation but it's often wrong, like it doesn't factor in evaporation for instance)
- Pick how many grams of the recipe you add to your journal.
Ex : i batch cook 500grams of home made hummus, enter it as a "recipe" and tell yazio that it's 500g, and everyday I can choose to add 70g, or 40g, or 37g etc to my journal. Instead of having to perfectly divide it into 8 portions which is a nightmare.
Imo this would make YAZIO absolutely PERFECT and a breeze to use. Please consider it, it would be so helpful !!! -

ZitaThis option would also be great for homemade breads or any baked goods.

Isabelle MergedHi, I don't know how many portions I will get from a recipe (my kids, my hubby and I don't eat the same quantity) so when I create a recipe, I'd rather weight it to know how much I'm eating for that meal 😘
