Don't make foods "Visible to all users" until they have been properly formatted and verified

The number of foods that are duplicates and full of incorrect or inaccurate serving, volume, weight, and nutritional information makes it almost impossible to use the food database. In many instances it is easier to create the food again (to have personally verified data and name consistency e.g. I like my food sorted in a logical order so I name it "flour, white", "flour, rye", "flour, whole wheat", etc.) than to find one that is complete and correct.
